The RMHYC Social Calendar 2011 - 2012
The Social Calendar for RMHYC focuses primarily on the winter cruising season – November through March – and club functions are scheduled during these months, unless otherwise posted or announced on the RMHYC Net. This is when many of our members visit the Abacos, and the yacht club typically has a scheduled event each month.
While in the Abacos, members are encouraged to tune their VHF radio each Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Channel 78 at 8:00AM to stay abreast of club news and activities. Members not having access to VHF can arrange to receive emails prior to club events.
Your social chairs,
Susan Harward and Roberta & Steve Brandt

| The 2nd annual Art Display by Club Members All members are invited to bring any arts and crafts they enjoy working on to share with the rest of the club. Last year we had water color paintings, pine needle basketry, hand made fly fishing lures, conch shell lamps, jewelry of all types and many other creations. If you have any creations you would like to show, please arrive between 3 and 3:30 pm to set up. None of the art is for sale, this is just a show only! This years event will be held in the conference facility in the hotel at Abaco Beach Resort from 4-6 pm. There will be a two for one bar and a special meal at Anglers for club members after the event. Make your reservations for dinner directly with Anglers now. Make sure to tell them you are a RMHYC member!

Commodores Ball - Roaring 20’s/Flapper Theme Hosted Helen Jacobs (Spirit of Freedom) , Joy Funston (Shearwater Land) Heather Patterson (Dragons Den) The Marquis Tent will be transformed into a speakeasy where flappers and gangsters rule. Men - Zoot Suits, Black or white ties on a black shirt was popular, spats (white canvas or vinyl shoe covers). fedoras or gangster hats. Aviator clothing was also popular.
Suggestion for using clothing you already have:
Buy Beaded Fringe and attach it creatively! You can get this at most craft and fabric stores. Maybe add a beaded shawl around the hips. Beaded fringe to bottom of dress and sleeves. Tassels were also in vogue. These are just suggestions, you could Google for other ideas! Band leader Ray V will have you doing the Lindy Hop or the Charleston into the wee hours. Of course there will be "bootleg" drinks available too! More info will follow, this should be enough to get you started!
