2014 Holiday Party

Published on 12/11/2014

holiday bellAngler’s Restaurant was the site for the 2014 Holiday Party where more than 60 people kicked off the season with food, fun and entertainment. It was a time of celebration as well as renewal of friendships.

Even an untimely rain shower couldn’t dampen the spirits of members arriving promptly at 5:30 P.M. for delectable appetizers, conversation and cocktails in Angler’s bar and festively decorated dining room. Attendees were excited to see new arrivals while catching up on recent events and planning new ones for the current season. Estin Sawyer entertained the membership with lovely seasonal music, as the sounds of spirited conversation and laughter heralded the beginning of a fun evening.

The dinner began with a fresh green salad served with champagne ranch dressing along with baskets of fresh breads. Entrée choices were a succulent lobster tail with fresh lime and pepper sauce, roasted lamb chops with a Dijon mustard herb crust or a bell pepper stuffed with wild rice, veggies and cheese. Each was served with duchess potatoes and seasoned vegetables. Entrees were beautifully plated and thoroughly enjoyed. Dessert was actually a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Candles drawn and creatively painted with sauces adorned each plate. Atop this was a rum cake medallion and vanilla ice cream.

Commodore John Conley, M/V Fantasy, welcomed everyone to the event and recognized his wife, Kathy who was the coordinator for the party. Kathy thanked all of the resort staff as well as key volunteers John and Diane Cummings, M/V Duetto, for their part in ensuring the success of the evening.

Commodore Conley met the obligations of our By-laws by proposing Henry Jamrozinski and Diane Cummings as at-large members of our Nominating Committee, who, together with the Commodore and Past Commodore, Jim Fenn, will recommend a slate of bridge officers at our February Annual Meeting. The proposal received enthusiastic approval.

Diane Cummings then called up Henry Jamrozinski, M/V Oh Henry, to lead the group in a round of interactive “Twelve Days of Christmas”. The group truly “rose to the occasion” and enjoyed the fun, actually showcasing a few really good voices….but ONLY a few, with the majority playfully making a joyful noise! Henry did a great job in maintaining control of the lively group.

With such a memorable start to the season we look forward to the many activities to follow in the Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club.
