WELCOME TO OUR
RMHYC WEBSITE

It’s all good!!! Although there has been a little (lot) more wind than many would have liked… and it seems to have delayed many crossings, we’re all arriving eventually, and no one seems to have been ‘beaten up’ by the elements. For those of us who do not do “winter,” our second summer has begun. And it’ll be a great season!

Rather than describing all of the various social events that are being planned, please look at the club social calendar on the website. We will also be having many special events, for example: On January 24, the RMHYC will host a Health and Safety seminar at the Abaco Beach Resort that is being put together by P/C Robert Wilson. It promises to be very informative and an important event designed for boaters/cruisers and the land bound. Please listen to our Mon-Wed-Fri 8am meeting on VHF channel 78A.

While this particular seminar is being held at Abaco Beach Resort, we have plans to hold events at different locations and establishments. If you have any ideas for activities, let’s talk about them. I can be contacted at slip 312, Boat Harbor, or on the club website at rmhyc@yahoo.com …but be prepared to assume a leadership role in putting things together. We need a club of active members and you are our most important resource!! If you have any interest in participating in or contributing to the Club’s administrative needs, let me know. At this time, we need someone to manage the Club’s Member Benefit section. Since many members have expressed ongoing interest in using these benefits, I hope that a volunteer will come forward to continue, upgrade and expand this important and valuable aspect of Club membership.

A major project this year is the planned and funded re-building of the Marsh Harbour dingy dock. David Bauereis, V/C, and Joe Caccamo, R/C, have been instrumental in this effort. Expect to see publicity and pictures. RMHYC has always honored its commitment to the cruising community. When Hurricane Irene came through this past summer, everyone’s first concern was for the safety and wellbeing of the people of the Bahamas and our community members. After determining their status, concerns for homes, shelters, other properties and structures became an area of anxiety and focus. Upon learning that the dingy dock had been swept away by the storm, plans for its replacement were made and finalized. It will all come together with volunteer work crews. Since we have a very talented and capable membership with lots of lots of skills from previous lives, the dock’s construction will soon be complete.

Please feel free to be in contact. Hopefully, I’ll see you this winter at one of our events and that you will enjoy our Island home.
