"As first year members of the Royal Marsh Harbor Yacht Club, my husband, John, and I would like to express our gratitude for an Abaco, Bahamas experience that was superb in every way. We knew beforehand that by joining RMHYC and signing up for three months at Boat Harbor, we would always have a dock when the weather got too windy to anchor out comfortably. But the actual experience with RMHYC was so much more than that!!!
When we arrived at Boat Harbor at Abaco Beach Resort, club members were there to welcome us and help with lines. The resort and marina are top notch…we never expected anything so nice in the Bahamas!
From our first Happy Hour gathering under the tent, we felt welcomed by so many new friends. By the New Year’s Eve party, most of the members had arrived and the marina was in full swing. We filled almost three full docks!
The social activities were too many to mention, and all run by volunteers from the club. We loved the movie nights with popcorn on Monday, a casserole cook-off, painting sea biscuits, making lamps out of conch shells, bingo and other games…and just the nightly Happy Hours giving everyone a chance to meet new boater friends and hang out with old ones.
Educational events this year included an in-depth fishing seminar, personal advice on cruising to Eleuthera or the Exumas, round table discussions of boat issues and questions, and even medical preparedness info for boaters.
Sports were big! Bocce ball on the beach, pickle ball on fantastic courts, water aerobics, yoga, and bucket golf! And then there were the championships in Bocce, Pickle Ball, and Bucket Golf.
Overall, I think the most fun were our fleet cruises when the weather permitted…. off to a deserted island in a cove where we could all anchor out. We would pitch in to clean the beach and gather firewood. An experienced member led dinghy tours to see the spectacular nature all around us…turtles, fish, starfish and sea biscuits, a blue hole, etc. We would dinghy to the beach for a bonfire at night, with everyone gathered in a circle, sharing stories and enjoying the beauty of the Bahamas! On one occasion many of us went to Sea Spray for a special RMHYC marina rate one weekend to enjoy a little get away and a chance to explore Elbow Cay.
RMHYC offers so much for so little!! The Commodore and bridge were all so professional. The savings we get around the Bahamas from dockage to restaurants is worth the fees by itself. Friends to travel with and dine out with and support you in any way you need, is priceless!!!
We are so happy to have had this experience and we would highly recommend a membership to anyone with plans for the Bahamas!"

"This was our first trip to Boat Harbour and our first year as members of the RMHYC, and it was fantastic! The friendliness and comraderie of the membership was wonderful. A typical day for us included tennis or pickle ball after breakfast, then Yoga at 11:00 with Ron. After lunch it was bridge for Sandy and bocce ball for Ray, followed by a late afternoon swim in the heated pool or a snorkel off of the private beach. Evenings required a tough decision as to which of the 3 or 4 dockside happy hours to attend, and later which of the dozen or so outstanding restaurants in town to walk to for dinner. Of course this "typical day" assumed we didn't take the boat out to go fishing or snorkeling , or sail over to Hope Town or down to Little Harbor, or take the ferry over to Guana Cay for a "nip" at Nippers. Needless to say we had a great time and plan to return for many years to come."

"What is RMHYC? A gathering of widely diversified individuals who are interested in enjoying life. Whether it be cruising or sailing the surrounding cays, fishing, scuba diving or snorkeling, these make for one common denominator in this boating community. At the same time the land based activities such as group walks, crafts, cards, Mah Jongg,group dinners and dancing make for a very active club environment. It's our home away from home for 5 months. "There are lots of reasons that my husband and I have taken our sailboat from Solomons Island, Maryland, in the Chesapeake Bay to Abaco four times in the last six years. The Bahamas are the closest semi-tropical islands to the east coast and only a day sail across the Atlantic from Florida. There's no need to sail to the BVI or further south to find what the Bahamas have to offer closer to home: sun, sand, beautiful water, and a warm winter, for starters. In addition, the Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club provides many activities for cruisers and is made up of friendly people who make the visit fun for everyone. We have made many friends in the RMHYC and look forward to seeing them again when we return."

"We have spent seven winters in the Abacos and we really enjoy all the restaurants in Marsh Harbour and the surrounding Cays. The members of the RMHYC always offer their help in directing new members to the best restaurants. There are many restaurants to choose with modest prices at most of them. Most offer Bahamian dishes especially local game fish and drinks made from rum and fruit juices. For those who prefer ‘regular fare’ you can have steak, hamburgers, chicken and great homemade breads. You will never go hungry in the Abacos."
